Dear Friends of the Hollings Center,
The Hollings Center for International Dialogue has published its new dialogue snapshot on Oral History in the Middle East and Central Asia.
The snapshot features highlights of our Higher Education Dialogue that took place this February in Istanbul. The dialogue brought together participants from Afghanistan, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkey, and the United States to exchange ideas on the substance and practice of oral history. You can read the snapshot in English, Arabic, Turkish and Dari.
We also suggest that you visit the Digital Dialogues section on our website to read two new features on Afghanistan:
- A review of Kabul Girls Soccer Club including an interview with author Awista Ayub.
- A feature on Untold Stories: Oral Histories of Afghanistan’s Cultural Heritage, a project that documents efforts to preserve Afghanistan’s cultural heritage during and after Taliban rule. The project provides a rare glimpse into the lives and work of those at the forefront of archaeology in Afghanistan.
You can also access the snapshot of our October 2011 dialogue, The Economies of the Arab Spring. This dialogue brought together participants from Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey and the United States to discuss the trajectory of the economic transitions in the Middle East. The snapshot is available in Arabic, English and Turkish.
